GainClone Monoblocks:

The so-called "Gainclone" is currently very popular in the diy-audio world - it's simplicity, low cost and surprisingly good results mean that you really ought to try one yourself ;-)

These amplifiers are temporarily on hold, but the research for this project has resulted in a number of articles and other projects on this site:

• Introduction to Gainclones - read this if you've never heard of "Gainclones"...
• Gainclone experiments - the research carried out during the planning of this project.
• Micro-Amp - a miniature stereo amplifier using an LM4780 and delivering around 25-30 watts per channel. The enclosure is designed to compliment my Audax mini-monitors.
• A4 Power Amplifier - uses four LM4780's to give 4 times 50 watts or 2 times 150 watts, built into a compact DIY aluminium case.

Project Details:

• Analogue stages - details of the LM3875 implementation.
• Control sections - how the amplifiers are controlled by the 12V trigger input and front panel switch.
• Mechanical details - building them into the enclosures.
